Performing and Production Arts – Your Future Performing and Production Arts covers many aspects of the entertainment industry, from basic industry standard skills, including improvisation, script reading, physical theatre, choral speaking, ensemble singing and choreography all delivered by industry-based professionals.Whether you’re looking to experience the buzz and adrenaline of opening night as the lights go up or looking to experience the camaraderie of working together as a team to create a piece of theatre from scratch, then Rotherham College is the perfect place to start a creative career in Musical Theatre or Acting.
Actors will develop new skills in, Greek style theatre, stage fighting, Commedia Dellarte. Actors will also gain extensive knowledge of drama practitioners such as Stanislavski, Bertolt Brecht and Augusto Boal.
Dancers will develop skills and techniques in all styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, lyrical and commercial whilst also studying practitioners and choreographers such as Martha Graham, Bob Fosse & Matthew Bourne.
From Level 1 through to Level 6, we offer a range of courses in Acting and Musical Theatre.
Careers following on from these courses could be as an Actor, Choreographer or Live Events Manager, to name a few.
Within Performing and Production Arts, we offer different specialist routes:All aspects of our courses – awarded by UAL – are assessed by ongoing course work and practical demonstration. We offer courses at various levels depending on experience, achievements and ability ranging from introductory courses at Level 1 to Level 3 (3 x A Level equivalent) as well as higher education BA (hons) degree.The Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting Pathway) provides a dedicated pathway for Actors. You will work towards small and larger scale productions and take part in a range of industry experiences including public performance, competitions, workshops and theatre trips.Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre & Dance Pathway) provides a dedicated pathway for Triple Threat Performers. This exciting course will provide professional training enabling you to access a range of higher education and career options.Musical Theatre and Dance are the key disciplines studied on this pathway and involve a rigorous and challenging study package to give you industry-standard skills needed to succeed. These skills include; jazz, contemporary, anatomy, body conditioning, drama analysis, devising your own work to singing and music theory.
We believe that the best industry experience is simply with industry based professionals. Our tutors are not only trained professionally in education but also have exclusive experience and connections within the performing arts industry. We navigate the students through an adventure of experience which will help guide and advise on how to progress in the performing arts industry. In addition to also maintain strong awareness of audition techniques and confidence based exercises.
