Travel and Hospitality students studying at University Centre Rotherham (UCR) are working together to manage a glamourous fundraising event in aid of Rotherham Hospital Community Charity, a charity that raises money to help fund resources and equipment that make a difference to the patients they care for at Rotherham Hospital.
The theme of the event is ladies’ night, Glamourous Adventures and is in partnership with Kayne Travel, a local independent travel agent based in Wath upon Dearne. The evening will also include a meal provided by Rotherham College Catering students, as well as the opportunity to win a variety of prizes including a food hamper, Yorkshire Wildlife Park day passes and massage vouchers.
Chloe Carr is a Travel and Hospitality student organising the event. She said, “It wasn’t difficult for us to choose the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, because we wanted our efforts to help a charitable organisation at the heart of our town and something which benefits people of all ages when they really need it the most.
“The event will be evaluated as part of our degree course but the added incentive to raise lots of money for charity will really spur us on to host a fantastic event. We hope it’s a great opportunity for women of all ages, whether with their girlfriends or mums, grandmothers and aunties to enjoy a lovely night out together planning their next holiday.”
Barry Mellor, Chair of the Charitable Funds Committee, added: “We’re incredibly grateful to Chloe and her course mates for kick-starting what we hope will be a wonderful fundraising legacy between UCR and the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity.
“The team’s idea to combine the university, local businesses and their local NHS charity shows just how much community spirit there is in Rotherham. I’m sure a wonderful meal prepared by budding chefs, intel on wonderful holiday destinations, quizzes and raffle prizes will ensure the event is well attended.”
The fundraiser will take place Monday 8th April from 7.00pm until late, with doors opening from 6.30pm. The event will be held at The Wharncliffe Restaurant and tickets are £6 per person – to purchase please email firstname.lastname@example.org
