University Centre Rotherham has attended the annual Get Up To Speed (GUTS) event at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham to provide local primary and secondary schools, parents and educators with information, advice and guidance on what courses and apprenticeships are available to provide learners with skills needed to succeed.
With over 3,000 visitors and 90 exhibitors, the 9th annual GUTS event aimed to engage the next generation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students and apprentices with industry-relevant apprenticeships, further and higher education opportunities.
University Centre Rotherham Higher Engagement Student Engagement Officer Katherine Clay represented University Centre Rotherham at the event.
Katherine said: “It’s been very encouraging to see how many local students are really engaged with being proactive and learning about how they can become the next generation of achievers in the STEM workplace.
“I feel very proud that University Centre Rotherham is raising awareness of all the fantastic local opportunities for higher education learners to study with us and earn degrees locally at a cost-effective price.
“Through our HNC and HND provision, we are actively providing local people the chance to gain valuable qualifications designed to unlock their potential and get ahead in their chosen careers.”
