Daisy Leese
Daisy Leese
Course: Assistant Practitioner Health Apprenticeship
What interested you in doing this apprenticeship?
Daisy began her learning journey with us at RNN Group when she enrolled into our Level 3 Senior Healthcare Worker Apprenticeship. This opportunity was offered to Daisy by her workplace and manager at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
After completing Level 3, she seized the chance to pursue a 2-year Level 5 Apprenticeship course supported by her manager in which Daisy passed and achieved a grade distinction in her end point assessment.
Do you feel the RNN Group supported you through your apprenticeship?
Throughout her studies Daisy received consistent support and guidance from tutors, from the moment she started the course up to her final endpoint assessment. She studied at the University Centre Rotherham one day a week which allowed the course to be flexible around her work and personal life.
“I attended the university centre one day a week to complete the Foundation degree in Health and Social care. This started in September 2022 and has just finished August 2024. I was supported at all times and guided from the start right until my end point assessment”.
Daisy Leese, Assistant Practitioner Health Apprenticeship“I was supported at all times and guided from the start right until my end point assessment.”
What knowledge, skills and behaviours did you develop both in the workplace and whilst studying?
“I have definitely developed my confidence in my own abilities, and I have realised I am capable of more than I initially thought. At work I am now more confident, I take the lead on managing some shifts and I allocate staff to tasks as well as managing my own case load. I also now teach other grades of staff such as midwives and medical staff in the skills of cannulation”.
How do you anticipate this apprenticeship will contribute to your future career goals?
Through completing the apprenticeship Daisy has also now secured a higher position within her job, and she is thriving in a supportive team environment and now possesses the necessary qualifications to advance her career further.
“I enjoy my job, and I work in a very supportive team. I now have the qualifications I need to progress to the next level”.
What advice would you give to future apprentices coming onto the programme?
“Keep on top of your work by doing a bit at a time rather than letting it mount up. Ask for help if you need it. And always link theory classes to work practice”.
