Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award is one of the most respected personal development programmes around for learners under the age of 24. You’ll get the chance to challenge yourself, try new things, and build lifelong skills while working towards the bronze, silver or gold award.
It’s split into different levels and sections (volunteering, physical, skills, expedition), so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re keen on outdoor adventure, giving back to the community, or learning something new, DofE gives you the structure and recognition for your achievements.
Plus, it looks fantastic on your CV. Employers know it demonstrates resilience, commitment, and teamwork.
Skills for Employment
Want to stand out to future employers? Our Skills for Employment programme helps you develop tenessential employability skills and gain official certification for them. Think communication, leadership, problem-solving, time management and more.
You’ll take part in interactive workshops, challenges, work placements, and reflection activities that give you practical evidence of your abilities. You’ll need at least three examples to gain your certificate for each power skill.
By the end, you’ll not only feel more confident about job applications and interviews but also have a certificate that proves your readiness for the workplace.
HE Student Voice
If you want to make a difference in the student community, the HE Student Voice programme might be for you. Student ambassadors represent their peers, gather feedback, and work with staff to help shape the university experience and course content.
It’s a brilliant way to build confidence in public speaking, negotiation, and leadership while actively improving life on campus. Each term you’ll meet other enthusiastic students from different courses, gain insight into how decisions are made, and develop skills that transfer directly into future career paths.

We’re also running our ever-popular Freshers event on Thursday 25th September from 1pm where we’ll have information about enrichment, volunteering opportunities and health and wellbeing. We’ll also be joined by employers from the local community who you can talk to about what skills they look for in graduates.
