Course: Senior Healthcare Worker Apprenticeship
What interested you in doing an apprenticeship?
“I was supported by my employer who works within the NHS to enrol into the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Worker Apprenticeship. I was keen to do this as I knew it would help me to progress to the next level of study I wanted to achieve.”
How did you find the apprenticeship?
“I attended class in the University Centre on alternate weeks in order to complete the apprenticeship. As I have lots of family commitments and a busy work life, my assessor was flexible in supporting me to achieve my apprenticeship whilst also helping me manage work and family. So, I was supported and guided from the start of the course right up until my end point assessment“.
What knowledge, skills and behaviours did you develop as part of your apprenticeship?
“Through my apprenticeship it helped me develop confidence in my abilities both in the workplace and whilst studying. Working as part of a team is also an important skill as I work with and support registered nurses, so I enjoy working as part of a team“.

What do you feel has been your biggest achievement?
“Achieving a distinction grade in my end point assessment and doing it within the time limit. I now feel ready to take on new challenges“.
How did you prepare for your end point assessment?
“I worked with my assessor whilst doing mock tests and having discussions about my practice, which helped me feel prepared when I was completing my end point discussion. I was also observed in my workplace by my assessor which prepared me for my end point observation. I was also supported when putting together my end point portfolio of evidence“.
What advice would you give to future apprentices?
“Stay up to date with the written work and ask for help if you need it. Also make sure you link theory classes to work practice“.
