Student Voice Meeting Yields Positive Feedback for HE Courses

A recent Student Voice meeting proved to be a valuable source of feedback for the University’s Higher Education courses!  

Course Representatives shared their perspectives, and the resulting comments were overwhelmingly positive.

These comments offer highlights in the strengths of the programmes and our students’ experiences.

Cert HE Professional Practice in Health and Social Care 

Supportive Guidance and Adaptable Learning

Students appreciated the guidance provided by their tutors.

This support proved valuable in helping them explore various learning methods throughout the course, creating a flexible and personalised learning journey. 

Blended Learning Approach Fuels Engagement

The blended learning approach, combining practical with theoretical learning, has proven to be a strong motivator for students.

This creates a positive and reinforcing learning cycle, where hands-on experience enhances understanding and vice versa. 

Effective Assessment and Feedback Mechanisms

Consistent and positive feedback on student work was a recurring theme.

The timetabled 1:1 sessions were particularly well-received, providing regular opportunities to receive constructive advice and access further support and guidance from tutors.

The availability and effectiveness of student support services gained positive responses with several students benefited from the career advice services, finding them helpful in their career planning and development. 

State-of-the-Art Facilities Enhance Practical Skills

Students were impressed with the brand-new health suite, praising its state-of-the-art equipment and the excellent environment it provides for gaining practical, hands-on experience.

The library and IT resources also received positive feedback, with appreciation for the accessible Chromebooks and the library induction sessions.

Foundation Degree in Graphic Design 

Practical Sessions Spark Enthusiasm

Hands-on learning proved to be a major highlight for students.

They were enthusiastic about the opportunity to explore new techniques, finding this aspect of the course highly engaging. 

Constructive Feedback Fosters Growth

The assessment and advice methods provided throughout the course were highly valued by the learners.

Guidance received during lessons was consistently constructive and supportive, creating a positive learning environment where students felt encouraged to take risks and learn from their experiences.

Motivated Learners and Valuable Insights

The tutors demonstrated an ability to effectively motivate students, fostering and encouraging active participation.

Informal presentations and discussions surrounding individual projects proved particularly beneficial. These sessions allowed learners to share their work, receive valuable peer feedback, and gain deeper insights from the tutors. The group expressed appreciation for the constructive nature of the feedback.  

Top-Notch Facilities Enhance Learning

Students also praised the quality of the facilities, with particular enthusiasm for the updated MacBooks and the fantastic library space.

BA Fine and Applied Art 

Positive Course Structure and Resource Appreciation

Learners were satisfied with the course structure and resources, appreciating the variety of materials available for their creative projects, a benefit that has become increasingly valuable in their third year.  

Effective Independent Study and Tutor Impact

The independent study and tutorial format proved popular, with students singling out their tutor, Kat, for special praise. They found the practical sessions engaging and felt encouraged to experiment with new techniques.

Kat’s approach of working alongside students and creating dedicated creative stations was highlighted as particularly effective.

Facility Improvements and Support Services

Tutors were also commended for their efforts to improve facilities, including the acquisition of new seating areas and for ordering specific resources based on student needs.

Students acknowledged the helpfulness of HE Achievement Support, with some utilising the financial advice services.  

Responsive Feedback and Student-Centred Approach

Overall, the group felt positive about the opportunity to voice their opinions, noting that feedback was consistently acted upon and followed up, demonstrating a responsive and student-centred approach.
