Humairaa Hussain BA (Hons), PGCE

Lecturer in Graphic Design

Humairaa began her journey at University Centre Rotherham as a student on the graphic design course, after taking a year out from college to explore an event management apprenticeship. Upon completion, Humairaa stayed to complete her PGCE and began teaching as a graphic design lecturer. She was taken on board as a digital specialist to support learners to develop their digital software skills. 

Being a woman from a minority background Humairaa overcame barriers and cultural differences to accomplish a career within the creative industry and her journey at the University Centre Rotherham from student to tutor has had a positive and supportive impact. This fuels Humairaa to advocate for equality and inclusiveness within the creative industry. She is passionate about equipping, supporting and encouraging students from all backgrounds to embrace and accomplish their dreams.

Humairaa’s favourite part of the job is to see all the student’s achievements at the University Centre Rotherham’s annual exhibition, celebrating and applauding their progress, hard work and dedication.
