Karen was awarded her BSc (Hons) in Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation from Bishop Burton College, where she also studied and completed a Level 5 Equine Integrative Therapist qualification alongside her studies.
After gaining experience in the field of therapy and continuing to study and grow alongside some of the world’s elite equine physiotherapists, doctors, and veterinarians, Karen once again returned to education at Nottingham Trent University to study and gain a PGDip in Equine Performance Health and Welfare.
As part of her therapy work, Karen has collaborated with various equine organisations and participated in multiple research projects on equine health and welfare, some of which have involved large organisations such as World Horse Welfare, Animal Health Trust, and Saddle Research Trust. She has also contributed as a columnist for both national and international magazines, writing on topics such as fitness, rehabilitation, equine and rider therapy, massage, ridden work, the impact of facial tension on the performance horse, and other areas of interest.
Karen began teaching six years ago, specialising in Higher Education Equine Sciences, sports coaching, and Bio-veterinary Science. She then moved into FE and HE to teach Animal Management.
In her spare time, Karen volunteers at a conservation organisation, which is a passion of hers which has led her to work with large cats, primates and many exotic species.
