Lee Bowes BSc (Hons), PGCE

Curriculum Team Leader for Esports

Lee is the Curriculum Team Leader for Esports at our Dearne Valley Campus, he has held various teaching and team leadership roles at Dearne Valley over 25 years of a very varied teaching career.

Lee began as an adult education tutor working across the communities of South Yorkshire encouraging participation, community engagement and progression for learners who had been disadvantaged or were seeking a second chance at learning. Lee moved on to teaching mainstream provision at the Group across a number of departments such as computing, IT and business studies.

In Lee’s current role, he is leading a team that has developed the Esports provision from an embryonic beginning into a curriculum area that now spans entry-level provision to Higher Education. Lee has overseen major growth within the area of Esports at Dearne Valley and he leads a team that he is especially proud of its achievements in becoming a beacon for disaffected learners and those learners who felt that they didn’t belong within mainstream education.

Lee works with industry partners such as the British Esport Federation and the Leadership Skills Foundation to promote and develop Esports education and professional development to ensure that Esports helps to unlock the potential of young people in the region.
